About IJHSR

The International Journal of High School Research is a publication of Terra Science and Education, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and has been published since 2019.

All manuscripts published by IJHSR are indexed internationally by EBSCO and Google Scholar, which makes them available to be searched by most libraries around the world. It provides a platform for high school students who are involved in research to learn about the publication process and to become published authors.

Manuscripts submitted to IJHSR are peer-reviewed by university faculty members, STEM professionals, postdoctoral researchers, and doctoral students selected to serve on the IJHSR editorial board.

Why publish with IJHSR?

Students gain experience writing for a scientific journal that may help their college applications stand out from others.

It also provides a platform for students all around the world to see what their peers achieve scientifically while in high school.

A publication is a higher level of presentation and requires a higher level of detail and work compared to a poster presentation at a science fair; therefore, it is more highly valued when compared to a poster or oral presentation.

Publication Scope

IJHSR publishes multidisciplinary research through three specialized journals. Research involving more than one discipline is welcome; however, authors should select the journal that most closely corresponds to the primary focus of their research.

IJHSR – Natural and Physical Sciences

Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Medical and Health Sciences, and related fields.

IJHSR – Engineering and Computer Science

Aerospace, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Materials, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering, as well as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Systems, Software Engineering, and related fields.

IJHSR – Business and Social Sciences

Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Anthropology, History, Law, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and related fields.

Publication Fee

IJHSR charges a modest publication fee to support its editorial and publishing services. This fee is due only after the article has been fully accepted for publication. An accepted article will be scheduled for publication in an upcoming issue once payment has been received.

Standard Student Rate - $350 publication fee

IJHSR does not wish to have our fees prevent any student from publishing their work. Once your manuscript has been accepted for publication, all communication with the editor regarding publication-fee scholarships must be submitted through your account in the Terra Journals App. If you qualify for free or reduced-price lunch in the United States, please provide the relevant documentation. If other circumstances may qualify you for a scholarship, please provide details explaining your situation.

A refund will not be given when an article is retracted by the editor for plagiarism, unauthorized use of generative AI, or other ethical reasons after its publication.

Authors should review the Society for Science and Regeneron ISEF guidance on generative AI use before submitting their manuscripts.

Publication Time

The average time for acceptance may take 1-3 months, depending largely on the quality of the submission, responsiveness of the reviewers, and authors' response time for requested changes and editing. Once the article is accepted and paid for, authors will receive a certificate of acceptance for their publication. After acceptance, it may take an additional 2-3 months to get published. We have recently implemented significant improvements to our editorial workflow, allowing us to streamline the review and production process and reduce the overall time to publication. We highly encourage all authors to be responsive to any editing or change requests to get their article published sooner.
